Method Collective

We acknowledge that the sacred land where we work, live, and play in Tkaronto is the traditional homeland of the Mississaugas of the Credit, the Anishinaabeg, the Chippewa, the Haudenosaunee, and the Huron-Wendat peoples, and is now home to many diverse nations of First peoples, Aboriginal peoples, Inuit, and Métis peoples. This land in Ontario is covered by 46 treaties and other agreements, including Treaty 13 and the One Dish with One Spoon Wampum Belt Covenant. These agreements are made to respectfully and peacefully share and care for the land and its resources among Indigenous peoples and settlers.

We are mindful of the broken treaties and agreements, and as settlers on this territory, we experience privileges and benefits as a result of colonial structures.

We are grateful to have the opportunity to live and work on this land, and in our work we will continue to pursue both personal and shared responsibilities of awareness, decolonization, and equity-building for all to flourish.

This acknowledgement is an important and ongoing learning process for us through our own personal research, reflection, and engagements.
